About Chamber Design

Built at thebench

We are a multidisciplinary industrial design studio dedicated to acoustic hardware. Our work begins at the driver and ends at the finished seam, and we are responsible for everything in between.

Our story

Chamber Design started in 2016 with three people, a lathe, and a frustration: we kept receiving excellent drivers and being asked to hide them inside housings that had already been frozen. The acoustic result suffered and so did the object.

So we built a studio where the acoustic engineer sizing a port sits two metres from the designer drawing the grille pattern that will sit over it. Today nine people — acoustic and mechanical engineers, industrial designers, and a CMF specialist — run programs for consumer audio brands, boutique loudspeaker makers, and OEMs who need a housing that can actually be tooled.

We work in small numbers on purpose. Four active programs at a time means the person who drew your hinge is the person standing at your first-shot review.

Philosophy

Four things we refuse to compromise

01

Measure before you argue

Every claim about a housing is settled with an impedance sweep, a waterfall plot, or an accelerometer trace. Taste decides the rest; data decides the acoustics.

02

The enclosure is the instrument

A cavity is not packaging. Volume, bracing, port length, and damping density are design decisions with the same weight as the silhouette.

03

Design for the fifth year

Pads wear, hinges fatigue, textiles fade. We specify serviceable pads, replaceable grilles, and finishes that age into something rather than out of it.

04

Tooling is a design constraint

Draft, parting lines, and shut-off faces are drawn in the first week, not negotiated after the first shot. Fewer surprises, fewer tool changes.
